The meaning of Tahbilk:
From the name “tabilk-tabilk” given by the Taungurung people, meaning “place of many waterholes.”
A Collaborative Project
Invicium have delivered services to the Tahbilk Estate for many years, dating back to a time when we would print and post their paper newsletters to members of the Tahbilk wine club! As the times have changed, so too have our services to Tahbilk, and we are honoured to continue delivering quality services to such an excellent establishment.
This project was a meticulous journey, requiring months of collaboration, back-and-forth edits, and a keen eye for detail. Every page reflects the collective effort and passion that we were pleased to be a part of to preserve this legacy. The result is not just a book, but a piece of art that encapsulates the spirit and history of a winery that has stood the test of time.

From Printing Press to Bookcase
25 years ago we worked closely with Tahbilk to print the first rendering of the Tahbilk history, Vintage Stories: A 150 Year History of Tahbilk by Fay Woodhouse. The new edition is much more than an updated version of the first; refocusing on the stewardship of the Purbrick family over a century at Tahbilk, the book has undergone a substantial transformation, signified by its new title: The Purbricks of Tahbilk 1925 – 2025.
In preparing this edition for print, we needed to make some significant changes. The orientation of the book has moved from landscape to portrait, so all of the previous typesets had to be changed. Already rich with photographic and documentary inclusions, the new edition has incorporated even more of these historical details. Printing these new treasures in a way that retained their original character, yet produced a clear and consistent result for the book was a painstaking effort that was well worth the time taken. We selected paper grades, printing resolutions and colour grading that would enhance the historical materials and give a polished, high-end result to enhance any book collection or coffee table display.
Bringing Stories to Life
This book was an important project for the Purbrick family, and for Tahbilk to commemorate its long history. With a deep exploration of the family’s narratives, the book celebrates not only the winery’s achievements but also the individuals behind them. This edition reveals a special focus on the contributions of the female members of the family, culminating in the current generation who have played a major part in the ecological and sustainable practices of the winery today. Enhanced visuals from Tahbilk’s extensive archives breathe life into these stories, creating a compelling tapestry of images and words that honor the past while looking eagerly to the future.
